Cookie Policy

Version 1.4 · Last updated 5 October 2026

What this covers

“Cookies” here means cookies and anything similar that stores or reads data on your device, such as local storage, session storage, and pixels. The law that governs it is Article 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive, which says we need your permission before storing anything that is not strictly necessary to deliver what you asked for.

This policy covers the Amusebit website. It doesn’t cover the menus we host for our customers, which currently set no cookies. See below.

Strictly necessary

These are exempt from consent and cannot be turned off, because without them the site cannot do its job.

  • cc_cookie

    Set by us, first-party

    Purpose
Remembers the choice you make about cookies, so we stop asking.
    Expires
    365 days
    Why no consent
It exists only to honour your decision. Asking permission to remember your answer would be circular.

Optional

These are off until you switch them on, and switching them off again deletes them straight away rather than leaving them to expire.

  • ab_ref

    If you decline
Nothing breaks. The code still travels with you through the links on this site during your visit, so a referral you act on now is still credited. You would only lose the credit if you left and came back days later.

Third-party tools

The optional tools above come from other companies. Here is what each one receives, with and without your consent.

  • Google Analytics

Google Ireland Limited and Google LLC · category: analytics

    Purpose
Counts visits and shows us which pages people read and where they came from, so we can tell what is working on this website.
    What it collects
The pages you view, how you reached them, a random ID for your browser, your approximate location (derived from your IP address), your device and browser type, and when you click through to sign up. If you then sign up, our servers also report when your trial starts and when you first pay, with the amount before VAT, linked to that browser ID and a random ID for your account.
    Without your consent
Google Analytics runs in a limited mode: no cookies, and only basic technical information about each page view.
    Where the data goes
Google Ireland Limited, with processing by Google LLC in the United States. Google LLC is certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
    Legal basis
Your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, and Art. 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive for the cookies). Withdraw it at any time with the Cookie settings link. Without consent: Our legitimate interest in understanding how this website is used (Art. 6(1)(f)).
  • Meta Pixel

Meta Platforms Ireland Limited · category: advertising

    Purpose
Measures whether our adverts on Facebook and Instagram lead people to this website and to sign up, so we can see which adverts work and show them to people likely to be interested.
    What it collects
The pages you view, a random ID for your browser, the ad click ID if you arrived from a Meta ad, your IP address and browser details, and when you click through to sign up. If you arrived from a Meta ad and sign up, our servers also report when your trial starts and when you first pay, with your email address in hashed form.
    Without your consent
The Meta Pixel loads but stays paused: no cookies and no events. Loading it gives Meta basic technical information, such as your IP address.
    Where the data goes
Meta Platforms Ireland Limited, with transfer to Meta Platforms, Inc. in the United States. Meta Platforms, Inc. is certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
    Legal basis
Your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, and Art. 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive for the cookies). Withdraw it at any time with the Cookie settings link. Without consent: Our legitimate interest in running this website and its tools smoothly (Art. 6(1)(f)).
  • ChatGPT Ads pixel

    OpenAI · category: advertising

    Purpose
Measures whether our adverts in ChatGPT lead people to this website and to sign up, so we can see which adverts work.
    What it collects
The pages you view, a random ID for your browser, the ad click reference if you arrived from a ChatGPT advert, your IP address and browser details, and when you click through to sign up. If you arrived from a ChatGPT advert and sign up, our servers also report when your trial starts and when you first pay, with your email address in hashed form.
    Where the data goes
OpenAI in the United States. OpenAI is not certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
    Legal basis
Your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, and Art. 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive for the cookies). Withdraw it at any time with the Cookie settings link.

If you arrive by clicking an advert, the link carries a click ID (such as gclid, fbclid, or oppref). With advertising switched on, we keep it for your visit and add it to the signup link. If you sign up, our servers report your trial start and first payment to the advertiser whose advert you clicked, with the click ID and your email address in hashed form. With advertising off, it’s ignored and nothing is reported.

What we do not use

As of the date at the top of this page, this website runs:

  • No analytics product other than Google Analytics.
  • No advertising pixels other than the Meta Pixel and the ChatGPT Ads pixel: no Google Ads, no LinkedIn.
  • No social media embeds, share buttons or comment widgets.
  • No third-party fonts. Typefaces are served from our own servers, so unless you switch on the optional tools above, loading a page does not tell anyone else that you visited.
  • No session-recording, heatmap or A/B testing tools.

If we add another measurement or advertising tool, this page will list every cookie it sets, and everyone will be asked again. A consent you gave before a tool existed cannot cover it.

The menus we host

Today, published menus (the pages your guests reach by scanning a QR code) set no cookies and load no analytics or tracking scripts. If that changes, we’ll update this policy before it does.

Menus do load their typefaces from Google Fonts. That sets no cookies and stores nothing on the guest’s device, but Google does receive the guest’s IP address, as with any web request. The privacy policy has the detail.

The Amusebit app

The admin application at our app domain uses no cookies. Your sign-in session is held in your browser’s session storage, which is strictly necessary to keep you logged in and is cleared when you close the tab. Like the menus, the app loads its typefaces from Google Fonts, which sets no cookies.

Changing your mind

Use the link, which is also in the footer of every page. Withdrawing is one click, exactly like giving consent was. You can also delete cookies through your browser settings, and set your browser to refuse them altogether, though that may affect sites less restrained than this one.

We ask again after 365 days, or sooner if what we use changes.
